Coinbase Introduces Crypto Payments Via Social Media Platforms

Coinbase Global Inc., the American trading platform, has introduced a new feature in its decentralized Wallet product, facilitating seamless transfers of crypto assets and stablecoins, such as USDC, among users on various social media platforms. This enhancement aims to simplify, reduce costs, and expedite money transfers. Users can generate a link on Coinbase Wallet and share it via messaging apps like WhatsApp, iMessage, Telegram, or email, enabling recipients to initiate preferred crypto transactions. The service spans globally, supporting 20 languages and operating in over 170 countries, enhancing accessibility for asset claimants worldwide. Recipients simply click the shared link, directing them to the Coinbase Wallet app, ensuring a straightforward process. Unclaimed funds revert to the sender after two weeks. Notably, the upgrade eliminates the need for multiple app downloads or extensive searches for usernames and profiles, offering added value to users. The service provides instant settlement without incurring fees, addressing challenges associated with traditional methods such as routing numbers, bank fees, and delays. Coinbase Wallet also enables users to receive money from any crypto exchange or self-custody wallet, aligning with Coinbase’s strategy to streamline user payment experiences.
