IBM has launched the IBM Hyper Protect Offline Signing Orchestrator (OSO), a cryptographic signing technology designed for secure cold storage of digital assets. This technology mitigates risks associated with manual procedures by introducing additional security layers such as disconnected network operations, time-based security, and multi-stakeholder electronic transaction approval.
Leveraging its expertise in key management and confidential computing, IBM addresses limitations in cold storage, reducing vulnerabilities related to human interactions. The OSO technology has found application with Metaco, a custody firm owned by Ripple, one of IBM’s longstanding partners in the cryptocurrency space.
