Telegram plans to introduce an advertising platform utilizing the TON blockchain.

Telegram, the social messaging application, is set to roll out an advertising platform allowing channel owners to earn rewards in Toncoin. Pavel Durov, the CEO, announced on Wednesday that the Telegram Ad Platform will be available to advertisers in almost 100 countries upon its official launch in March.

“Channel owners in these countries will start receiving 50% of any revenue that Telegram makes from displaying ads in their channels.”

He highlighted that Telegram’s broadcast channels amass a staggering 1 trillion views each month, yet the current monetization rate stands at only 10%, facilitated through its promotional tool, Telegram Ads.

With this announcement, channel owners stand to gain from more effective monetization of their content. This move aligns Telegram with other social media giants like YouTube and X (formerly Twitter), both of which currently offer ad revenue sharing programs for users.

Under the YouTube Partner Program, content creators currently receive 55% of the ad revenue. Conversely, X launched its ad revenue sharing program with creators globally in July 2023. Since then, numerous creators have reported significant payouts.

Enhancing Telegram’s Platform with TON Blockchain Integration

Leveraging the TON (Telegram Open Network) blockchain, Telegram strategically enhances its platform’s capabilities, aiming to overcome challenges inherent in traditional centralized systems. This integration promises improved scalability and performance, crucial for supporting Telegram’s vast user base. By processing a high volume of transactions per second, TON ensures speed and reliability, essential for a messaging giant like Telegram.

Furthermore, TON’s design enables secure peer-to-peer transactions, facilitating seamless digital asset transfers and payments within Telegram’s ecosystem. This opens doors for users to engage in DeFi activities directly within the app, such as lending, staking, and decentralized trading.

Beyond functionality, TON bolsters security and privacy. Its decentralized nature ensures encrypted and tamper-proof user data, mitigating risks of breaches or unauthorized access.

Aligning with Telegram’s decentralization and user empowerment vision, integrating TON reduces reliance on central intermediaries. This move empowers users with greater control over their data and assets.

In essence, Telegram’s adoption of the TON blockchain signifies a pivotal step toward a more secure, scalable, and decentralized messaging platform. By harnessing blockchain technology, Telegram aims to offer enhanced features, improved security, and increased user control, shaping a more inclusive and user-centric digital ecosystem.
