In the realm of meme coins, a dispute has arisen, drawing battle lines between the Solana community and the proprietors of the real-life Shiba Inu, which inspired the explosive Dogwifhat (WIF) meme coin.
At the heart of the controversy lies the auction of an Ethereum NFT showcasing the iconic photograph of Achi, the dog who rose to fame as the face of the widely circulated Dogwifhat meme.
The narrative commenced with a South Korean Instagram user, purportedly the owner of Achi, announcing plans to auction an NFT featuring the original image that sparked the meme’s viral spread. Over the course of five years, the user had consistently shared images of Achi adorned in various woven ensembles, intending to commemorate the dog’s newfound celebrity status.
The NFT auction, conducted on the Ethereum NFT platform Foundation, is slated to conclude on Monday, with the current bid soaring to a remarkable 50 ETH, equivalent to over $182,000.
The community expresses its objections to the decision to collaborate with Feisty DAO.
The decision to form a partnership with Feisty DAO, an online community renowned for its expertise in procuring and fractionalizing Shiba Inu-related NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain, has triggered a significant backlash within the WIF community and among other users within the Solana ecosystem. A prevailing sentiment among many is one of disappointment, stemming from the belief that Achi’s guardians did not opt to collaborate with the WIF team on Solana for the NFT drop.
The discontent arises from the perception that by choosing Ethereum over Solana for the NFT auction, opportunities for greater integration and participation within the existing WIF ecosystem on Solana were overlooked. Members of the community and Solana enthusiasts alike express concerns that this decision may potentially alienate or marginalize a segment of the community that is deeply invested in the Solana blockchain and its associated projects.
Moreover, there is a sense of missed opportunity for synergistic collaboration between Achi’s guardians and the WIF team, which could have further bolstered the prominence of both the WIF token and the broader Solana ecosystem. By aligning efforts and resources, there could have been the potential to explore innovative ways to leverage Solana’s high-speed and low-cost transaction capabilities, offering a more seamless and efficient experience for participants in the NFT auction.
Furthermore, the decision to partner with Feisty DAO has raised questions regarding the rationale behind the selection process and the potential implications for the broader community. Some members question whether alternative options were thoroughly considered and whether adequate transparency and consultation were provided throughout the decision-making process.
Overall, while the partnership with Feisty DAO may offer certain advantages and opportunities within the Ethereum ecosystem, the discontent within the WIF community and among Solana users underscores the importance of careful consideration and community engagement in decisions that impact the direction and future of decentralized projects.

The backlash reached a tipping point, prompting Achi’s owners to address the criticisms publicly.
In a pinned comment on their Instagram post, the owners wrote, “Please refrain from insulting [Achi] and us. There is no justification for blaming us. We kindly ask for your support and encouragement.”
Interestingly, Achi’s owner had previously made efforts to collaborate with Solana users, but the experience soured.
Following the success of WIF, another meme coin called ACHI emerged, backed by the endorsement of Achi’s parents.
However, the creators of ACHI purportedly abandoned the project shortly after its launch, leaving Achi’s parents disheartened.
As a result, they opted to partner with Feisty DAO, a reputable entity in the NFT space, to ensure a smoother and more secure auction process.
The Solana community made minimal attempts to reach out to the owners of WIF.
While certain members of the WIF community voiced frustration regarding the perceived lack of coordination between Achi’s parents and the meme coin community, it’s evident that minimal effort was made by the community to establish communication with the family responsible for the dog that significantly contributed to the token’s staggering multi-billion dollar valuation.
Despite WIF’s phenomenal success, Achi’s parents claimed they had never been contacted by anyone from the WIF community until recently when they made an attempt to reach out.
Mihir, a member of the WIF community who was involved in the fundraising campaign to showcase Achi’s image on the LED screen-covered Sphere arena in Las Vegas, admitted that he had only become aware of Achi’s owners last week. Nevertheless, he acknowledged the significance of their contribution and suggested that they deserve recognition and a portion of the profits generated by WIF, which currently boasts a market capitalization exceeding $3 billion.

Path, representing Feisty DAO and responsible for managing the NFT auction, conveyed a willingness to consider re-minting the NFT on Solana if there was interest from the Solana community.
In an effort to explore this possibility further, Path contacted Ansem, a notable figure within the WIF community, to inquire about their interest in acquiring the Achi NFT. However, no affirmative response was received.
