CoinMarketCap introduces the ‘Oscars of Crypto’ to honor achievements within the industry.

CoinMarketCap has unveiled plans for the inaugural CMC Crypto Awards, aiming to spotlight outstanding achievements across networks, individuals, and technology within the cryptocurrency sector.

Scheduled to span from February 21 to March 6, the awards ceremony will encompass a range of categories celebrating excellence in the industry.

Winners will be determined through a combination of CoinMarketCap data analysis, input from expert panels, and community voting, with the results set to be revealed on the event’s final day.

Commenting on the initiative, CoinMarketCap CEO Rush Luton expressed excitement about the opportunity to recognize and honor noteworthy contributions within the crypto space.

“Our intention is for the CMC Crypto Awards to become the most recognized annual celebration of Crypto and Web3. Think of it as the ‘Oscars Of Crypto’, an entertaining way to bring the whole industry together and celebrate the people and projects that are driving the industry forward.”

CoinMarketCap plans to award excellence across eight distinct categories within the crypto sphere.

CMC Crypto Awards: Recognizing Excellence Across the Crypto Industry

CoinMarketCap has announced the launch of the inaugural CMC Crypto Awards, set to recognize outstanding achievements and contributions within the cryptocurrency industry. The awards ceremony, scheduled to run from February 21 to March 6, will feature several categories highlighting various aspects of the crypto ecosystem.

  1. Crypto of the Year: This prestigious award aims to honor groundbreaking innovation and enduring impact on the industry. Nominees include Ripple, Solana, Chainlink, Ethereum, and Toncoin.
  2. Crypto Leader of the Year: Recognizing visionaries who combat fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD) while driving technological advancements, adoption, and regulatory progress. Nominees include former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, Messari CEO Ryan Selkis, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, and Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) CEO Julia Leung.
  3. Meme Coin of the Year: Acknowledging humor and community engagement in the industry. Nominees include Pepe, Milady, Memecoin, Bonk, and Ordinals.
  4. Most Innovative DeFi: Honoring protocols that have contributed uniquely to the evolving DeFi landscape. Nominated projects include Uniswap, Unibot, EigenLayer, MakerDAO, and Friend.Tech.
  5. Most Innovative L1, L2, Cross-Chain Project: Recognizing networks that have demonstrated considerable scalability, security, and interoperability advancements. Nominees include Arbitrum, Aptos, Axelar, ZKSync, and Celestia.
  6. Social Media Influencer of the Year: Acknowledging the significant contributions of influencers in enriching the crypto discourse and advancing the community. Nominees include Lookonchain, ZachXBT, CryptosRUs, Wendy O, and The DeFi Edge.
  7. Bridge Builder of the Year: Celebrating established brands that have embraced Web3 to enhance customer value. Nominees include BlackRock for championing a Bitcoin ETF, PayPal for its PYUSD stablecoin, Reddit for gamified avatars simplifying Web3 access, Starbucks for Web3 loyalty programs, and Nike for blending fashion, sport, gaming, and Web3 through strategic partnerships.
